What are the guidelines
The R2Pi project: The route to circular economy, a three-year research project, under the European Commission’s Research and Innovation programme, Horizon 2020. Its overarching goal is to accelerate the widespread implementation of a circular economy based on successful business models and effective policies.
These guidelines compile a series of principles and lessons that the R2Pi team has developed and compiled from working with companies in six different sectors, that have incorporated Circular Economy Business Models (CEBMs). It also details a set of policy packages in each of the six sectors that enable the CEBMs.
The purpose of these guidelines is to provide consultants and in-house strategists with a set of tools to train others in the principles of the CE and CEBMs and the corresponding policy environment.

THE ABCs OF CIRCULARITY
A circular economy business model (CEBM) is one which creates, delivers, and captures value in a manner that is compatible with and enables regeneration of finite natural resources; and keeping products, components and materials at their highest value and utility within a relevant system boundary. The R2Pi consortium defined seven CEBMs. The diagram below summarizes the seven CEBM models and each model is linked with a specific “modified” business model canvas.
